Prosecutor's Office

Sergeant  David Avery & Detective Daniel Ford

The court prosecutor is the liaison between the police department and the district and superior courts.  When an officer makes an arrest or a criminal complaint is requested after an illegal incident the prosecutor brings the required documents to the court for formal charges to be filed.  The prosecutor follows the court case through the scheduling of officers and various requests involving the case.  The prosecutor works with the District Attorney’s Office to provide added information or evidence for the successful prosecution of the matter.  Defense attorneys also rely on the prosecutor to supply them with information in order for them to defend their client.  Evidence passes through the hands of the prosecutor when it must be brought to court for a trial or when respective attorneys in preparation for a trial view it.  The prosecutor resolves misdemeanors and some felony cases at arraignment whenever possible.
