Duties of the Lieutenants

 

He/She is in charge of the shift that he is assigned to with its many

responsibilities. He/She supervises the street supervisor who holds

the rank of sergeant as well as the patrol officers. He/She maintains the

integrity of the station as well as the men & women he/she supervises.

He/She is responsible for the booking process when persons are placed

into custody along with their care and well being for as long as

those persons are held in the station. He/She makes decisions on personnel matters and maintains the integrity of the shift log. He/She is held accountable for all that happens on his shift as well as becoming

an incident commander outside of the station during an emergency

situation. His/Her knowledge and experience are constantly called

upon as he usually has a number of years on the department.
